Jack-O-Lanterns

Isabelle and Bobby did some pretty awesome pumpkin carving. I helped Bobby quite a but, but Isabelle only needed a little help with scraping out the insides. It was too slimy for them.

Here is what Isabelle made:

Here is what Bobby made:

The squirrels got to them both a little before I took pictures.

Halloween Party

Every year our city celebrates Halloween on a Sunday, so every year our ward celebrates Halloween on a Friday night before Halloween. It's called Trunk-or-treat. We park cars and the church kids "trick-or-treat" out of the trunks of our cars. I dressed up as Mario this past Trunk-or-treat. Here is what I looked like.

It was really fun. I wish I had more pictures from that night. Maria and I forgot to get any pictures of the kids. Which is what, I'm sure you would rather be looking at. This one comes from a friend's cell. Next year maybe we can do a themed thing with little mushrooms and Yoshi and Peach too.

Cornet

I am hoping to get a cornet for my birthday on October 30th. I have a dream of creating a family band. Ryann already plays the clarinet, Maria also can play a clarinet, I played trumpet when I was younger, Isabelle is about to start learning the flute and Bobby wants to learn to play piano and drums. This may be an issue with so many instruments with the same range. I.E. a trumpet/cornet and two clarinets, but I think it will be fun.

I am doing well in fantasy football, all things considered. 2-0 in one league and 1-1 in the other two. Wish me luck!

In case you are wondering, here is a picture of the difference between a trumpet and cornet.

From left to right: flugelhorn, trumpet and cornet
Typically trumpets are for orchestra and cornets are for jazz. The have a slightly different sound. I have heard the trumpet sound explained as brighter and the cornet sound explained as more mellow. Even though the cornet looks shorter, the actual tubing is the same length.

I Was Robbed!

In one of my fantasy football leagues I lost because of this atrocity

Please watch this video before you continue to read this blog....

Okay, now that we have all seen that this was actually a touchdown, you may be thinking, "But, Bob, you live in Chicago. The Bears won that game because of this play." While this is true, I have Calvin Johnson on my fantasy team and lost by 0.18 points. See my tragic loss here. For those who are not familiar with fantasy football or even football, Calvin Johnson received 4.5 points for this game. If you add a touchdown that is 10.5 points. Plus however many yards the ball was thrown divided by 10. (I.E. If the ball was thrown 35 yards that is 3.5 points.)

Final score:
Fire Eaters (Me) - 114.18
The Blasters (Brad) - 114.32

Star Wars

I am a huge Star Wars fan, so I had to see if I could use my developing Photoshop skills to make a lightsaber. Here are the results:

If you look all the way back to my very first blog, you can see the original edit. Where he is just standing there holding some chicken nuggets. I like this edit much better.

The Art Institute

We had so much fun at the Art Institute of Chicago. They have a great museum. My battery died about half way through the museum so we didn't get pictures of the miniatures. They were our favorite exhibit. We went to the impressionist section first.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as we enjoyed the museum.

Here is a video that I made of these pictures:

Brookfield Zoo

We went to Brookfield Zoo today. We had a blast, but we are all so tired. I took over 150 photos, these are the top 12.

On a totally different subject, Elder Mann is leaving tomorrow. He has been in our ward for many months. I wish him well wherever he goes.

Picnic

Here are the pictures from our picnic at the park today.

We had so much fun!

Last Week Before School

Ryann starts on Wednesday and Isabelle and Bobby start on Monday, so the next few days are the last of the summer for my kids. I have a busy week planned. Today we are going on a picnic in the park; tomorrow we are going to Brookfield Zoo and Thursday we are going to the Art Institute of Chicago. It should be a fun, but busy week.

I am excited that Football season is upon us and I have started a fantasy league with a few of my friends. I can't wait!! http://lordahl.league.fantasy.nfl.com/ Wish me luck!!

My Company

I've decided to focus my company more on graphic design than photography. I offered my services to all my friends on Facebook for free, we'll see if anyone takes me up on that offer.

Here is some of the work I did for a local Zumba studio:

I have also completed my own company logo for Crenshaw Images. It is also at the top of the page.

I hope that I can get off the ground with this. I really want to start my own company. Wish me luck!!!
